Winner Christmas Show: The WZID Christmas at the Palace show at the Palace Theatre in Manchester is a festive hoot that showcases talent from in and around the state with celebrities and surprise guests like Livingston Taylor showing up at the last minute, just to join in the fun. Operated as a live-to-tape radio show, there’s a “North Pole Home Companion” vibe throughout and a sense of drama as the performances flow in and out of breaks for “station identification” and advertising. The audience really feels like a part of the act, and by the time the music and merry mayhem draws to a close, and the indoor snow machine cranks up, there’s a genuine feeling of peace on Earth and goodwill to all.

Hardest Working Man in Show Biz: Just about anything interesting going on in the entertainment world of central New Hampshire has the name Jim Roach (396-4220) attached to it in some way, or else he’s just backstage making sure things are running smoothly and on time. This former promotional director for WZID promotes, proclaims, encourages and “mother-hens” all variety of local acts and is the go-to guy for anyone wanting to tap into the institutional memory of the local entertainment business.

Tribute to Brad Delp
I had the amazing privilege to know and work with Brad Delp, lead singer for Boston, Beatle Juice and RTZ. I first met brad in 1991 when RTZ played for us at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. A few years later Muzz called me about this new project he had with Brad doing all Beatles music called Beatle Juice. I booked them into the Yard in Manchester and then at Point Breeze in Webster, MA. Beatle Juice performed every October at the Palace Theatre. It was one of my favorite shows to do. The band was great but it was more about the family the members of Beatle Juice made up.

Over the years I got to spend time with Brad when he would do interviews for up coming shows or the concerts themselves. Brad’s grace, humility and kindness will be with me as long as I live. Beatle Juice with Brad performed their last show together in Keene, NH, a show I produced.

Bradley, thank you for the lessons you taught and the love you shared. Rest in Peace.
